Weekend of May 16-18 we spent on Whidbey Island with folks from Design Commission. Beautiful place, I’d like to come back there one day. Anyway-there was lots of RockBand playing, clam-eating and Chloe-chasing activities:) Check out new album.

The time has come! I did it! On Friday, May 9th I’ve graduated from Cornish College of the Arts, with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design. The ceremony took place at Benaroya Hall, where we had to show up at 10 am (although ceremony started at 1 pm) to rehearse and take class photos which we had to re-take anyway later on. The whole ceremony was good, albeit rather slow and with an emphasis on a theater (of course, the most important department in this school), there were nice speeches and couple of performances. But then this guy, teacher from the theater department, who just got an honorary degree went into a 30 minute blabber that stopped making sense after a minute or so. He went on into proclaiming second depression and assuring students they wouldn’t make any money but it’s ok, because success apparently spoils the creativity…or soul…who knows. He would make many long pauses that led everyone to believe he was done talking but no…he wasn’t. And the worst thing was that he would repeat the same stuff over and over again making it unbelievably painful to listen.
Anyway, then we were called on stage to get our diploma skins (the real document will come later, since it’s not ready yet. Are you surprised? I’m not. With the way things were organized…oh well) and that was real fast. Oh and they forgot to announce one of my classmates, a shy Japanese girl whose mother was in the hospital at that time. Can you imagine that day getting any worse for her?
On the brighter note, our friend was kind enough to videotape my graduation and soon I will post a video. Enjoy the photographs for now, form the BFA show opening (where we showcase our final projects) and graduation. The photo album will be updated since there are more photos to come.
Наконец-то, по прошествии 4 долгих лет я выпустилась с дипломом бакалавра в графическом дизайне. Церемония проводилась в Филармонии где нас попросили явится к 10 утра, хотя само торжество начиналось в час дня. Мы типа репетировали и фотографировались. В час мы торжественно вошли в зал под музыку и часа два слушали поздравительные речи и смотрели пару выступлений от студентов музыкального и театрального департаментов. Всё бы ничего, но вышел с поздравительной речью мужик, театральный профессор и полчаса подряд нёс такую пургу! И про то, что студенты не смогут зарабатывать деньги вообще, но это ничего так как деньги портят душу, и то что грядёт вторая экономическая депрессия и многое другое. И самое невыносимое даже не этот его бред, а то, что он повторял одно и то же в течении получаса!
В конце концов началась раздача дипломов, но и тут не могло не обойтись без незадачи-забыли огласить имя моей одноклассницы, скромной японской девушки чья мама в то же самое утро попала в больницу. Светлый день для бедняги стал просто кошмаром. Но мы ситуацию поправили, сказали кому надо и её уже в самом конце огласили и вручили корочку (диплом).
Но впрочем, всё прошло неплохо. Мой друг профессионал, записал видео церемонии так что скоро выложу. Потом мы отмечали с народом до 3 ночи. Ах да и выставка наших финальных проэктов прошла на ура (открытие состоялось 8 мая) Смотрите новый альбом, который будет пополняться по мере поступления новых фот.
